About Us Pastor's Biography The Bible Says:
Romans 10
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved.
in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall
they hear without a preacher? preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Senior Pastor Norman Lee Robinson is a spirit filled and spirit led preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was born in Sanger, Texas, Denton County on February 23, 1921, but spent his formative years in Palmer, Texas. Senior Pastor Robinson received his formal education in the schools of Palmer and Ennis, Texas. He graduated from Southern Bible Institute of Dallas, Texas in 1962 and received a Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 1984.
Rev. Robinson served his country as a soldier in the United States Army during World War II. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on February 16, 1944, at 6:55 PM in the jungles of Guadalcanal. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army on November 25, 1945. After leaving the Army, Rev. Robinson worked for the Dallas Housing Authority from July, 1946 until his retirement in 1976.
Rev. Robinson began his ministry on June 10, 1962 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas under Pastor B. E. Collie. In 1963 he was called to pastor Lucille Baptist Church in Palmer, Texas and remained in that position until he was called in October, 1966 to pastor the Mount Olive Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas. At the time he began this ministry, the church had a membership of seventeen souls. Under his leadership, the church congregation has grown from the initial seventeen members to over ten thousand.
The Mount Olive Baptist Church currently has over thirty five ministers and over one hundred Deacons to meet the spiritual, social and physical needs of its growing congregation. This growth is the result of sound biblical principles, expository preaching teaching based upon the Word of God. Like Peter in the Word of God, Rev. Robinson is faithful to declare God's word with boldness and clarity.
On July 8, 2001, Senior Pastor Norman L. Robinson celebrated his 34th anniversary at the Mount Olive Baptist Church and received honorary keys to the cities of Arlington and Grand Prairie for his years of service to his congregation and Community. He has also been presented letters of commendation from President Ronald Reagan by Rev. Ronald Bryant and President Bill Clinton by Congressman Martin Frost. In July, 1992, North West Street north of Division was renamed 'N.L. Robinson Drive' by the city of Arlington.
'Where there is no vision, the people perish', Proverbs 29:18. Vision is the ability to see, perceive or discern beyond the present time. The Lord God, has blessed us with such a Pastor in Rev. Robinson. He is constantly demonstrating true brotherhood by becoming involved in numerous community projects. Senior Pastor Robinson has also been used by God to assist many individuals throughout the community. It does not matter about their race or social status. If there is a need, he does whatever is necessary to make sure the need is met.
Rev. Robinson married the pearl of his life, the beautiful Sis. Pearl M. Taylor. on October 16, 1948. He is the father of three lovely daughters, Norma Faye, Maynell and Gwen. Rev. Robinson has been faithful to love his wife the way Christ loved the church and he has been faithful to nurture and admonish his family. Senior Pastor Robinson is a 'faithful worker' in spite of obstacles and health concerns. However, even after he leaves the church for the day, he continues to work from home. Yet, he still takes the time to minister to his lovely wife, Sis. Pearl Robinson, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and other members of his family.
Senior Pastor Robinson's motto is 'Live a clean life for Christ and He will bless you' and Proverbs 28:20 states 'That a faithful man shall abound with blessing'. The manifestation of his motto and this scripture can be clearly seen in the life of Pastor Robinson. He has been faithful to live his life as an example to his flock.
Senior Pastor Robinson is a 'courageous soldier'. He is always on the battlefield winning lost souls to Christ. He is continually bandaging up wounds of fallen soldiers and restoring them back into the Grace of God. To God be the glory for finding a faithful man to serve the Mount Olive Baptist Church for so many years.
