Mount Olive Bible Institute (MOBI)

Mount Olive Bible Institute is one of the chief cornerstones of the Christian education department at the Mount Olive Baptist Church. MOBI, founded in 1983, allows lay Christians to study the Word of God in a formal classroom setting. Many church leaders, deacons, and Sunday school teachers have received diplomas for their diligent study. We welcome you to join us as “we study to show thyself approved unto God” (2 Tim 2:15).

Pastoral Care

We offer a variety of pastoral care services here at Mount Olive, such as SWAT (Servants With A Testimony) Team, CCC (Care, Compassion, and Comfort), wakes and funerals, weddings, Baptisms, and prayer requests.

What is Pastoral Care?

The SWAT (Servants With A Testimony) TEAM at the Mount Olive Baptist Church is here to help cope with the change of life-threatening, emotionally damaging and spiritually challenging illnesses such as Cancer, Heart Disease, Alzheimer/Dementia, Kidney Disease, AIDS, Sickle Cell Anemia, and others.

If you or a loved one is experiencing the life-altering changes of a catastrophic disease or if you would just like to come out and support those who are, come join us every third (3rd) Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For more information please contact the church office. For more information about catastrophic diseases, treatments and prevention please contact the Center for Disease Control and Prevention or The American Cancer Society.

Mission Statement
In accordance with the Mount Olive Baptist Church (MOBC) mission statement, we will Exalt the Loving Savior, Jesus Christ, Expound the Living Scriptures, Evangelize the Lost Sinner and Edify the Learning Saints. We will strive to uphold this mission and ministry by providing care, compassion, and comfort to those who are experiencing need due to the loss of a loved one.

Who we are
We are a proactive ministry. We desire to provide helpful information and available resources to those members in need through qualified and trained individuals in the areas of consultation and intervention. Only those who are trained and approved by the MOBC pastoral leadership shall provide services to families or individuals seeking spiritual counseling.

Meetings
We will meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom and in person. At each meeting, a subject matter expert will provide an overview of their area of expertise in relation to those experiencing loss and grief. Participants can then avail themselves of the services of their choosing to assist them as they deem appropriate.

Follow-up contact
We will provide follow-up contact to members to check on their well-being as part of our Care, Compassion, and Comfort mission and ministry. This contact may be in the form of phone calls and/or in-person contact at the church. No home visits will take place unless approved by MOBC pastoral leadership. There shall be no one-on-one visits. All approved visits must have chaperoned coverage.

Prayer and Prayer Requests
Group prayer and phone prayer requests are a part of our mission to provide compassion and comfort.

Our desire
Psalm 23 verse 4 (a) states, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…”. It is our desire to provide assistance to those experiencing loss in order that they can walk through that valley knowing that The God of all comfort, The Father of Mercy, and The Prince of Peace is there to help them make that passage.
