COLLEGE ORIENTATION

Mission Statement

Our mission is to prepare students to live holistically as young adults in a challenging environment. Focus is given to understanding Christian doctrine sound decision making and one's role as a witness for Jesus Christ. Instruction is bible based; interactive geared to developing a balanced perspective to ensure a successful life.

 

Code of Conduct____________________Top

Students participating in this program are expected to behave in a Christian-like manner. This means disruptive behavior of any kind is unacceptable. Should a student speak disrespectfully; refuse to follow an instruction given by an instructor; disrupt the class discussion, or is verbally or physically abusive, the student will be removed from the class and directed to the office of the Youth Minister for counseling. Any student removed from class for such behavior may return to class with the approval of the Youth Minister. Parents will be notified when the student is removed.


Attendance Policy__________________Top

Students participating in the College Orientation Program must attend classes regularly and arrive in a timely fashion. Student attendance will be collected for the period 7:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. only. If a student does not sign the roster within the stated timeframe he/she will be considered absent. Therefore to be considered in attendance, a student must be present and on time. No consideration will be made regarding an excused absence or unexcused.

 

Participation Policy_____________________Top

Any student wishing to participate in College Orientation classes is permitted to enroll and attend as many classes as desired.

Member Recognition
Students who are members of Mount Olive Baptist Church will:

  • Be placed on the Wall of Honor
  • Receive a free Wall of Honor portrait
  • Participate in the Annual Senior Recognition Program
  • Receive a Study Reference Bible
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion* (during the Senior Recognition Program service)
  • Participate in the Annual Junior/Senior Banquet**
  • Be eligible to receive a scholarship from MOBC Scholarship Committee

___*Certificate of Completion Eligibility
___To be eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion, a student ___must:

  • Be a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church; an
  • Have completed 80 percent of the College Orientation Classes as a Junior and a Senior.

___**Banquet Guests
___Only students who are High School Seniors will be eligible to ___invite guests to the Annual Junior/Senior Banquet. Guest ___tickets will be distributed and only those who have guest ___tickets will be admitted. Additional information will be provided ___at a later time.


Non-Member Recognition
Students who are not members of Mount Olive Baptist Church who complete 50 percent of all Senior classes offered will be invited guests of the Mount Olive Baptist Church on the day of the Annual Senior Recognition Program and will receive:

  • A Certificate of Participation
  • A Study Reference Bible
  • A free 4 x 6 portrait
