SUMMARY:Care\, Compassion\, and Comfort Event
DESCRIPTION:The Care\, Compassion\, Comfort  Committee will host a special event at the Mount Olive Baptist Church on Saturday\, December 7th from 10:00:00am-2:00pm. Registration is required before attending the event\, as there will be no registration on the day of the event. We will cover the following subject matters for each session\, listed below. \n\n Grief and Family Dynamics\n“Early Grief” Grief During the First Few Years\nMen and Grief\nGrief and the Mind/Body Connection\n\nTo Register (Click Here). \nGrieving Immediate Family Members: The death of immediate family members (parents\, a spouse\, siblings\, children) is a life changing experience that reflects the unique bond we have with family members.  The loss of immediate family also impacts family dynamics. Understanding grief from a family perspective helps families work on grief together and heal not only the individual but the family as a whole. \nGrief During the Early Years: The first few years following the death of a loved one are emotionally challenging and intense. While experiencing early grief\, the bereaved also have to attend to practical tasks associated with the death.  This session will focus on understanding the impact of grief during the first two years\, identifying the stages of grief and strategies for support. \nMen and Grief: Our culture often discourages men from expressing the complicated emotions associated with grief. However\, sadness\, loss and pain are a part of the grief experience. This session will discuss common ways in which men grieve and identify strategies that support men during the grief process. \n Grief and the Mind/Body Connection: Grief is an all-encompassing mental\, physical and spiritual experience. Grieving often leads to both physical symptoms and emotional distress which impact the grieving process.  This session will help you explore ways to cope with grief and support your mental\, physical and spiritual well being. \n
